4 Tips for How to Get Glowing, Dewy Skin

Everyone’s skin is different, but there are a few things that we can all do to achieve (and maintain) that glowing, dewy skin we’re all pining after.

Skincare is something that is constantly changing and evolving, and with everyone telling you to do this and try that, it can be hard to know what to listen to. Everyone’s skin is different, but there are a few things that we can all do to achieve (and maintain) that glowing, dewy skin we’re all pining after. In my conversation on the Live Purely Podcast with Allison McNamara, founder of the award-winning skincare brand MARA she gave us her go-to tips for getting the most out of our skincare routine.

  1. GET ENOUGH SLEEP

Sleep probably isn’t the first thing you think of when you’re wanting that healthy glow, but in our conversation, Allison said that getting enough sleep is inextricably tied to the overall health of our skin. She clued me in on the process of cellular regeneration and how a lot of this process occurs when we are sleeping. During this process, our skin is shedding old cells, revealing fresh, newly grown cells underneath. This is why getting proper sleep is crucial to not only the health of our skin, but critical to achieving that glowing, dewy skin we all want.

  2. EAT THE RAINBOW

It’s no secret that eating healthy has an effect on how we feel, but it also affects the look and feel of our skin. To maintain her dewy complexion, Allison makes sure to eat a healthy diet made up of fresh, colorful foods - otherwise known as eating the rainbow! So, let this serve as a reminder to eat your fruits and vegetables.

  3. TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN AT HOME

There are so many new skincare products emerging on the market, but Allison swears by her LED light mask from Dr. Dennis Gross. This mask combines blue and red LED lights to smooth lines and wrinkles, clear complexion by destroying acne-causing bacteria, firm skin and increase skin density, and treat signs of sun-damage such as sun spots and discoloration. Allison also shared with us that she’s a fan of the popular Chinese medicine practice of gua sha as well as non-invasive microneedling.

Remember: one size does not fit all when it comes to skincare, so try things out and see what works for you!

  4. GET YOUR SWEAT ON

We all know that a surefire way to get glowing skin is by getting your sweat on. Not only is it good for your body and your skin’s overall health, but it also is known to increase your endorphins - which is always a good thing!
