While we may not be seeing abundant stacks of vibrant fruit at the grocery stores right now, the winter season fruits bring their own vibrancy when our bodies need them most. Using our Blueberry Flax Superfood Oatmeal Multipacks, you can whip up a breakfast that is bursting with bright flavors and spices.

Ingredients you will need to make this Winter Oatmeal:

Oatmeal: While this recipe calls for our Blueberry Flavor Superfood Oatmeal Multipack, our Original Superfood Oats, Blueberry Walnut Collagen Superfood Oats and our Classic Cinnamon Superfood Oatmeal Multipacks would make delicious swaps.

Nut Milk: Any milk of choice will work for this recipe. If you would like to omit the milk altogether, feel free to add it back to the water.

Orange: A touch of orange zest may not seem like a lot, but it will deliver a powerhouse of citrus flavor. Have you noticed how much citrus is at the grocery stores right now? The peak season for oranges is typically from November to April, making them a perfect addition to any winter meal or recipe. Not only do oranges add a burst of flavor to dishes, but they are also packed with vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin C, which can help boost the immune system during the colder months.

Ground Cardamom: A little bit goes a long way with this warming spice. Ground cardamom is a versatile and flavorful spice that is widely used in both sweet and savory dishes. It is made by grinding the seeds of the cardamom plant, which belongs to the ginger family. The spice is widely used in Middle Eastern, Indian, and Scandinavian cuisines.Ground cardamom has a warm, sweet, and slightly pungent flavor that pairs well with other spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger.

Optional Toppings: Walnuts or any type of nut adds a nice crunch to the soft oatmeal. Fresh fruit like blueberries adds additional freshness. We love adding coconut to our oatmeal for the extra crunch and sweetness.

Directions

  1. Place oatmeal in a saucepan, orange zest, and ground cardamom. Pour in water and nut milk. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally while oats cook to desired consistency, adding more water or nut milk to achieve desired consistency.
  2. Remove from heat, pour into bowls and top with walnuts, fresh blueberries and coconut.
